Biological attributes

Phenology Floración
Plant description Unarmed tree to 5.5 m. Bark slash creamy white with red striation. Leaves simple and alternate gathered in terminal whorls and distinctly creamish brown abaxially. Black secondary metabolites present in petioles, rachis and center of stems. Inflorescences in terminal apical racemes. Flowers with 5 sepals, 5 petals, 5 antepetalous stamens and a single persistent style. Ovary green with red dots and a single ovule inside.
Locality and habit remarks Subandean cloudforest with 30 years of regrowth; Growing in a canopy gap, near the bottom of a sloping ridge next to a small stream. Mixture of tall and small trees. Soil is loamy and the area seems susceptible to landslides. 300 meters south west of Otun Quimbaya Sanctuary for Flora and Fauna main station. Entered forest via Humedal trail, and hiked up stream at the nearby river.
