Biological attributes

Plant description Slender tree to c.7 m; sap clear, oxidising ochre-yellow; branches brittle; monoecious; female phase, flowers apetalous, calyx green, winged; male inflorescence finished, inconspicuous.
Locality and habit remarks Tropical, lowland, evergreen, mid-Magdalena type rainforest on limestone. Beside road, open disturbed forest, canopy height 10 to 15m; soil red, sandy-clay. From main gate of Rio Claro Nature Reserve entrance, towards Medellin on Bogotß-Medellin highway, dirt track on left (300 degree bearing; W-N-W) opposite the cement factory. Approx 400m up trail, tree to left of track.
