Biological attributes

Phenology Floración
Plant description Common tree to 15 m, pachycaulus architecture, leaves spiraly arranged, clasping petiole bases, leaves spathulate with a crenate margin up to 75 x 16 cm. Reddish triangular stipules. Terminal panicle >60 cm long, and 34 cm wide for the lateral branches of inflorescences. Green sepals. 5 free bright yellow petals, many stamens with an up-curving style. Persistent gynoecium. Very busy with Meliponini bees on the flowers. Stamens falling over the crown of leaves.
Locality and habit remarks Regenerating secondary forest. Approximately 3 km south of Rio Claro Natural Reserve canyon.
