Plant description	Terrestrial herb growing in clumps of 6 leafy shoots, 7-10 cm apart. Leafy shoots to 5 m, swollen at base. Sheaths light green. Ligule cylindrical, 1.5 cm, longest at petiole side of the sheath. Petiole with long appressed hairs. Inflorescence terminal, sessile, 20 cm long. Bracts red with yellow vertical stripe in centre, deflexed. Bracteoles red with green mark at apex. Calyx red, corolla creamish white to pale orange
