Plant description	Terrestrial herb in clumps of 6 leafy shoots, 2-4 cm apart. Leafy shoots to 1 m with 8 leaves clustered towards the apex; base swollen and brownish red. Sheath and ligule mid green with yellow-green difused stripes; abaxially pale green, stripy reddish brown at margins and centre. Inflorescence terminal, sessile and spindle shaped. Bracts shiny with a vertical mark in centre, adaxially tinged cream to rose, turning mid green with age, abaxially dark red. Bracteole, calyx and corolla red. Bracteole and calyx persistant in fruit.
